The United Kingdom’s Ashcourt Group has placed the largest single order for Volvo electric trucks, and is receiving four units of the FH Electric 6×2 for use with PBTC trailers weighing up to 44 tonnes.

The trucks will be used in conjunction with tipper-type equipment, in the Queen Elizabeth Docks and Foster Street areas in Hull and Pocklington, near York.

The trucks get packs of six batteries, guaranteeing a maximum range of 300 km, and can be recharged in just two and a half hours using a fast charger.

Each truck also features three electric motors that produce up to 666 hp of power and 2,400 Nm of continuous torque, with this massive power controlled by a unique traction control system designed to dominate even the slickest roads.

The FH Electric uses the same gearbox as the diesel model, the 12-speed I-Shift, offering a smooth and comfortable driving experience.

The customer also opted for the Volvo Dynamic Steering System, which offers intuitive steering and great maneuverability, and adaptive cruise control.

The cabins are the most comfortable of the Globetrotter standard, including extras such as extra lockers, refrigerators and bottle holders.
