United Kingdom – Shares closed the session with gains and the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 Index rose 0.22% by Investing.com

Investing.com – United Kingdom shares were higher at the close on Monday, as shares rose and sectors gained.

The index rose 0.22% at the close in London.

The best performer of the session on the index came from shares of NatWest Group PLC (LON:), which rose 3.45%, corresponding to 11.80 points, and ended the session trading at 354.30. Meanwhile, shares of Shell plc (LON:) rose 2.35% or 60.50 points to end the day at 2,638.00, and shares of Convatech Group PLC (LON:), which advanced 2.08% or 4.60 points to end trading at 226.00.

Whose shares had the worst performance of the session? barrett development PLC (LON:), which fell 3.30% or 15.90 points, with shares trading at 466.20. Smith & Nephew PLC (LON:) fell 3.17% or 36.00 points to end at 1101.00, and JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:) fell 3.14% or 4.35 points to 134.30.

On the London Stock Exchange, falling shares outnumbered advancing ones by 930 to 863, while 671 closed unchanged.

Gold futures for December delivery fell 0.11%, or 3.05, to $2,664.75 a troy ounce. In other commodities, crude for delivery in November rose 3.11% or 2.31 to trade at $76.69 a barrel, while Brent crude futures for delivery in December were up 2.93% or 2.29 to trade at $80.34 a barrel.

GBP/USD was 0.24% unchanged at 1.31, while EUR/GBP was 0.35% unchanged at 0.84.

In turn, the dollar futures index rose 0.06% to 102.21.
