The British competition regulator said this Friday (27) that Amazon’s partnership with Anthropic, a startup in the field of artificial intelligence, will not be referred for in-depth investigation, as it is not within its jurisdiction.
The UK Competition and Markets Authority said the partnership, which includes Amazon’s $4 billion investment in Anthropic, does not qualify for investigation under UK merger rules.
“We welcome the decision of the UK Competition and Markets Authority, which recognizes its lack of jurisdiction in relation to this collaboration,” an Amazon spokesperson said in response to the regulator’s decision.
