The President of the United States, Joe Biden, will announce on Monday, 22, US$7 billion (equivalent to approximately R$36.4 billion) in incentives for residential photovoltaic projects. It aims to allow approximately 1 million low-income households access to clean and renewable sources.
Of course, it’s all over North America. The funds made available are included in Biden’s climate change legislation, also known as the IRA (Inflation Reduction Act) – which aims to create more than 200,000 green jobs.
According to information from the White House, it also saves approximately US$400 per year for families participating in the program. Recipients include 60 state and local agencies and nonprofit organizations.
They will have programs to help residents of poor communities adopt solar energy and save on energy bills. The program is in line with Biden’s goal to deliver 40% of the benefits of federal investments in clean energy to disadvantaged communities.
The projects are expected to reduce 30 million metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
