The Under-17 team will face the United States this Monday

The friendly match is part of the Simón Jatobá-led side’s preparations for the World Cup in the Dominican Republic in October.

A Under-17 Women’s Team This Monday (15) the team will face the United States in Atlanta. The team led by Simone Jatobá will take the field at Kennesaw University at 7:30 p.m. (Brasilia time).

This friendly is part of the team’s preparation to compete in the category’s World Cup, which will take place in the Dominican Republic in October. With the changes to the Under-17 World Cup calendar and the inclusion of annual editions of the competition, the CBF decided to make the same cycle until next year’s World Cup. Therefore, the team consists of athletes aged 14 and above.

“We were pleasantly surprised by FIFA who decided to make the world competition an annual category, which as a consequence will also require South American teams every year. Simone Jatobá, who was already working as Under-15 coach, identified some talents between 14 and 16 years old, who are still young for the 2024 World Cup cycle, with a very privileged technical position, we decided to organize a unique cycle”, said Romeu Castro, presidential adviser for women’s national teams.

The team has 8 athletes aged 17 years. The rest of those called up are youngsters.

On Friday (12) Brazil played their first friendly match against the United States, which they won 3-1.

The game remained balanced until the final minutes, when the Americans scored the winning goal with Mikayla Johnson in the 43rd minute of the second half. Then, Barcenas took the lead over their opponents in the 46th minute of the final phase.

The goal for Brazil was scored by Juju Harris in the 46th minute of the first half. Shortly before, McCammon opened the account by scoring a goal in the 28th minute.

It was the Selecao’s first friendly since winning the South American championship in March. Brazil are in Group D at the World Cup with Japan, Poland and Zambia.
