Tehran, December 25 – Ria Novosti. Iran’s Vice President, Mohamed Eslami, head of the Atomic Energy Organization, said in an interview with RIA Novosti that Tehran has repaid its debt to Moscow for the construction of the first power unit of the Bushehr nuclear power plant. Due to US sanctions, funds were blocked in Iranian banks in Japan and South Korea. The Bushehr nuclear power plant is considered the largest joint project of the two countries. The first block of nuclear power plants, completed with Russian participation, was connected to Iran’s national electricity system in September 2011. Now the construction of the second is underway and a contract has been signed for the construction of the third. The amount of debt for the work was about $ 500 million. In addition, Moscow supplies Tehran with the nuclear fuel necessary for the operation of the reactor of the first unit. The last delivery was on April 29, 2020.
