Investing.com – Australian shares were lower at the close on Friday, as shares led by losses in the , and , and sectors.

The index fell 0.10% at the close in Sydney.

The best performer of the session on the index came from shares of St. Barbara Limited (ASX:), which rose 10.00%, equivalent to 0.04 points, to end the session trading at 0.38. Meanwhile, shares of Austal Limited (ASX:) added 9.85%, or 0.27 points, to end the day at $3.01, and they Appan Limited (ASX:), which advanced 6.90% or 0.14 points at the end of trading at 2.17.

The worst performers of the session were shares in Zip Company Limited (ASX:), which fell 2.67% or 0.08 points to trade at $2.92 at the close. PointsBet Holdings Limited Steadfast Group Ltd (ASX:) fell 2.21% or 0.02 points to 0.67 and Steadfast Group Ltd (ASX:) fell 1.98% or 0.11 points to 5.45.

On the Sydney Stock Exchange, rising stocks outnumbered negative ones by 517 to 501, while 403 closed unchanged.

In turn, the dollar futures index rose 0.01% to 102.68.
