Investing.com – Australia shares were higher by the close on Wednesday, as shares led by gains in the , , and , and .

The index rose 0.13% at the close in Sydney.

The best performer of the session on the index came from shares in Zip Company Limited (ASX:), which gained 0.17 points or 6.25% to trade at 2.89 at the close of trading. Meanwhile, shares of Pro Medicus Ltd (ASX:) added 4.01%, or 7.20 points, to end the day at 186.63, and APA Group (ASX:), which ended trading at 7.63, advanced 3.11%, or 0.23 points.

Whose shares had the worst performance of the session? mineral resources (ASX:), which fell 7.07% or 3.62 points, with shares trading at 47.61. Pilbara Minerals Limited (ASX:) fell 5.33% or 0.16 points to end at 2.84, and mesoblast (ASX:) declined 4.78% or 0.07 points to 1.39.

On the Sydney Stock Exchange, rising stocks outnumbered declining ones by 523 to 499, while 379 closed unchanged.

Gold futures for December delivery rose 0.21%, or 5.50, to $2,640.90 a troy ounce. Elsewhere, crude for delivery in November rose 0.80% or 0.59 to $74.16 a barrel, while Brent crude futures for delivery in December were up 0.87% or 0.67 to trade at $77.85 a barrel.

AUD/USD was unchanged 0.02% at 0.67, while AUD/JPY rose 0.14% to 100.14.

In turn, the dollar futures index declined 0.03% to 102.33.
