As she did on Friday, the third, when she did not attend Mass for the anniversary, the Queen will not attend this Saturday’s events. Prince Charles, first in line to the throne, and his son William will welcome the cast to the show in front of the Palace.

What is the meaning of Platinum Jubilee?
The Cambridge Dictionary defines “Jubilee” simply as “(a celebration of) the day when an important event took place many years ago”. Its origins are from the Bible, when Jayanti referred to the end of seven cycles of “shmita” or “sabbath” years, which fell every seven years.
“Jubilee”, therefore, denotes every 49 or 50 years, and refers to a special year of remission of sins, in which slaves and prisoners are freed and debts are forgotten. Nowadays, it usually refers to ceremonies associated with specific years of an emperor’s reign.
