Philip Schofield said he had a secret meeting with his partner Holly Willoughby at a London bar before he became gay this morning.

In February this year, the ITV host, who had been married to his wife Steve for 27 years, appeared in public this morning as a homosexual.

Speaking on The One Show on Wednesday, Philip explained how he made the decision and why he wanted to do it in public.

“We had a big lead up to that moment and when I knew what to do, Holly was one of the first people I told,” he said.

‘He is an intelligent man, he has such a calm, sensitive aura. We had to figure out if we were going to do something like that, and the worst thing about it was that if you were going to do something in public, it had to be public. ‘

Philip added that initially he was going to make the announcement on Thursday instead of Friday.

He continued: “I told Holly,” I’ll do it on Thursday morning and then I’ll go and you’ll continue the show with someone else. “

“We were at a bar in London, the meeting took place in secret and he said: ‘You’re kidding, there’s no chance you can go and I’ll keep going.’

And so he said, “We’ll do it on Friday and ask Eman and Ruth if we can kick 10 minutes of their performance and then we’ll go together.”

And that’s what the couple did, Philip and Holly made a surprise presentation on the program, hosted by Eamonn Holes and Ruth Langsford, where Holly read an emotional statement from her pal.

Philip admitted that despite feeling relieved, He also felt guilty for hurting his wife and two daughters.

“It’s funny because everyone I’ve talked to is so supportive.”

‘Everyone I call gets a little lighter, it’s important to me and my head, and of course, I’m very aware that the staff and the girls at home are watching.

“There is no question that it has caused pain and discomfort.”

He added: ‘I’ve had to deal with this in my head for a long time and about Steve, as I said I can’t write in any statement how I feel about that night.

“She is OK. There is no one in my life who has helped me. She is wondering. ‘

Following his appearance, Dancing on Ice Host revealed that he was releasing a tell-all book entitled Life Is What You Make.

In his book, Philip takes fans behind the scenes of his life, career and family, while experiencing all the ups and downs and some ‘very emotional’ moments.
