Garbage and bin collection may not be the first thing on everyone’s mind during Christmas.
But with the wrapping paper and the evidence of our food and drink consumption, it’s important to know that your boxes will be collected during the festive season and during the new year.
ECHO has asked local Merseyside authorities to share their modified non-collection services so you can reassure them this Christmas.
The following dates are provided shortly after from Liverpool Council, Nozzle Council, St. Helens Council, Viral Council and Safton Council and Selton Council and Border to ensure that you make any changes to your common bin collection date. Be fully aware of.
Liverpool Council
The collections run as usual from Thursday, December 24, Christmas Eve
Usually expected Friday collection on December 25, Christmas will now be on Tuesday December 29
Monday’s collection, which is usually on December 28, will now be on Wednesday, December 30
The Tuesday collection, which is usually on December 29, will now be on Thursday, December 31
Wednesday collections, usually on December 30, will now be on Saturday, January 2
Thursday’s collection is generally expected to be on December 31, New Year’s Eve will now be on Monday, January 4
Friday’s collections, usually on January 1, will now be on Tuesday, January 5
Monday’s collection, which is usually on January 4, will now be on Wednesday, January 6
Tuesday’s collections, usually on January 5, will now be on Thursday, January 7
Wednesday’s collection, which normally takes place on January 6, will now be on Friday, January 8
The Thursday collection, usually expected on January 7, will now be on Saturday, January 9
Friday’s collection, which is usually on January 8, will now be on Monday, January 11
Monday’s collection, which is usually on January 11, will now be on Tuesday, January 12
Tuesday’s collection, which is usually on January 12, will now be on Wednesday, January 13
Wednesday’s collection, which is usually on January 13, will now be on Thursday, January 14
The Thursday collection, usually expected on January 14, will now be on Friday, January 15
Friday collections, usually on January 15, will now be on Saturday, January 16
Collections then resumed as per normal Monday, January 18th
St. Helens Council
The collection, to be held on Thursday, December 24, will be collected as usual on Christmas Eve
Collections for Christmas Day Friday, December 25 will now be collected on Tuesday, December 29.
Collections scheduled for Monday, December 28 will now be collected on Wednesday, December 30
Collections for Tuesday, December 29 will now be collected on Thursday, December 31
Collections starting on Wednesday, December 30 will now be collected on Saturday, January 2
Collections scheduled for Thursday, December 31 will now be collected on Monday, January 4
Collections scheduled for Friday, January 1 will now be collected on Tuesday, January 5
Collections starting on Monday, January 4 will now be collected on Wednesday, January 6
Collections scheduled for Tuesday, January 5 will now be collected on Thursday, January 7
Collections scheduled for Wednesday, January 6 will now be collected on Friday, January 8
Collections scheduled for Thursday, January 7 will now be collected on Saturday, January 9
Collections scheduled for Friday, January 8 will now be collected on Monday, January 11
Collections scheduled for Monday, January 11 will now be collected on Tuesday, January 12
Collections scheduled for Tuesday, January 12 will now be collected on Wednesday, January 13

Then on Monday, January 18 the collection will start as usual.
The council says do your recycling and waste time collecting from 6:30 p.m. Extra cardboard, often made during the festive season, can be well stacked for collection.
If additional recycling is to be offered, residents are asked to keep materials (cardboard, glass, paper, plastic, cardboard) separate and do not keep in bound black boxes.
Viral Council
Collections for Christmas Day, Friday, December 25 will now be collected on Sunday, December 27.
Collections on New Year’s Day, Friday, January 1 will now be collected on Saturday, January 2.
All other waste and recycling collections are normal scheduled days.
The garden bins are closed for a four-week period from December 14 to January 11.
Nosley Council
If your bin was to be collected on Monday, December 21, it will now be collected on Saturday, December 19.
If your bin was to be collected on Tuesday, December 22, it will now be collected on Monday, December 21.
If your bin was to be collected on Wednesday, December 23, it will now be collected on Tuesday, December 22.
If your bin was to be collected on Thursday, December 24, it will now be collected on Wednesday, December 23.
If your bin was to be collected on Christmas Day, Friday, December 25, it will now be collected on Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24.
There has been no change in the collection time for the boxes being collected, including Monday, December 28 and New Year’s Eve, Thursday, December 31.
If your bin was to be collected on New Year’s Day, Friday, January 1, 2021, it will now be collected on Saturday, January 2, 2021.

Sefton Council
The council says the usual alternative gray / brown wheel bin collection method will continue during Christmas time.
The collection will be as usual from Monday, December 21 to December 21, including Christmas Eve
If your bin was to be collected on Christmas Day, Friday, December 25, it will now be collected on Monday, December 28.
The collection will be on Monday, December 28 as usual and will include New Year’s Eve, Thursday, December 31

If your bin was to be collected on New Year’s Day, Friday, January 1, 2021, it will now be collected on Saturday, January 2, 2021.
Please make sure you have not wasted your time recycling by 6.30am on the day of your collection.
The weekly clinical waste collection service scheduled for Friday, December 25 will now be collected on Christmas Eve.
Clinical waste collection service will be suspended from Christmas Day to New Year’s Day
Hilton Council
The boxes will be collected normally from Monday, December 21 and will be included on Christmas Eve, Thursday, December 24.
If your bin was to be collected on Christmas Day, Friday, December 25, it will now be collected on Tuesday, December 29.
If your bin was to be collected on Monday, December 28, it will now be collected on Wednesday, December 30.
If your bin was to be collected on Tuesday, December 29, it will now be collected on New Year’s Eve, Thursday, December 31.
If your bin was to be collected on Wednesday, December 30, it will now be collected on Saturday, January 2, 2021.
If your bin was to be collected on New Year’s Eve, Thursday, December 31, it will now be collected on Monday, January 4.
