Netflix is launching a function to watch something randomly in mobile apps. The intention is to help undecided fans find something to watch.
The functionality was already available on televisions and is now only visible on Android devices.

However, it is not about complete randomness. The movies and series selected are based on each user’s viewing history, in addition to preferences.
“This feature helps Netflix customers discover new shows and movies when they don’t want to make decisions,” said Patrick Fleming, director of product innovation at Netflix (via Variety). “Today, we’re excited to bring this feature to Android as well – choosing what to watch on your phone has never been easier.”

This seems like a good way to skip the tedious task of choosing exactly what to look for in an algorithm. In addition, this is a good opportunity to learn about new productions.
Additionally, in some countries, such as the US, Canada and the UK, Netflix is releasing Fast Laughs, a selection of comedy clips.
