On Monday (13/09), India delivered a Dornier aircraft to Mauritius as part of Vision Sagar to enhance maritime security in the Indian Ocean Region (IOR).
“Implementing Vision Sagar, India leased a Dornier aircraft from the Indian Navy to Mauritius and exchanged a contract for the purchase of a new Dornier aircraft under Line of Credit (LoC). Indian High Commission in Mauritius tweeted, India-Mauritius Framework Agreement serves to enhance maritime security for our shared IOR.
Through Sagar, India seeks to deepen economic and security cooperation with its maritime neighbors and help build its maritime security capabilities. For this, India will cooperate in information exchange, coastal surveillance, infrastructure building and capacity building.
In addition, India seeks to protect its national interests and ensure that the Indian Ocean region is inclusive, cooperative and respects international law.
In 2015, India unveiled its strategic vision for the Indian Ocean, namely Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR). It is a growing recognition of the growing importance of maritime security, shared maritime resources and cooperation.
“Another milestone in 47 years of maritime cooperation between India and Mauritius. Looking forward to many more years of cooperation in the India-Mauritius program under Sagar Vision, the Indian High Commission tweeted.
