The first iPhone was released in 2007, but it is not forgotten, many users still have good memories of it. Keeping this in mind, the PhoneBuff channel decided to conduct a speed test with the duel of generations, where the iPhone 2G faces the iPhone 12. See how they fared.
The testing done by the channel initially involves opening the Camera app, taking a photo, opening the Photos app, viewing the captured image, using the calculator and other apps that are already preloaded on the iPhone from its earlier version.
Unfortunately testing is limited to these apps, as the App Store is no longer available for the iPhone 2G even with iOS 3.1.
Coming to the specs, the iPhone 2G is powered by a single core processor clocked at 412 MHz and 128 MB of RAM. The screen is 3.5 inches with a resolution of 320×480 pixels.
Ending with the test results, we have the iPhone 12 completing all the tasks in just 20 seconds, while the iPhone 2G takes 86 seconds to open and use all the apps.
The result was already expected, after all the iPhone 2G hardware is very old, but it was quite innovative and impressive for the time, offering an unprecedented experience for 2007.
