The meeting was open to the public and moderated by the FPA directors, Walter Pomar and Monica Valente, who also holds the position of Executive Secretary of the São Paulo Forum.
Topics discussed include the actions of the left in the United States during the electoral period; possible differences in negotiations with Brazil depending on the winning candidate; and the current social reality in the North American country. The Democratic Socialists of America (DSA) is the largest socialist organization in the United States. It is not a formal party, but rather a political entity with an activist content that fights for reforms that empower workers.
Admission of immigrants
As in previous campaigns, illegal immigrants from neighboring countries entering the United States is a constant theme. This is one of the flags on which the country’s leftist party is trying to exert influence, despite having candidates in the presidential race.
In addition to thanking the participants, directors Monica Valente and Walter Pomar reaffirmed the value of the partnership with DSA and the São Paulo Forum and the debate to be held in 2024.
