On an official visit to India, the President of the Federal Supreme Court (STF), Minister Luis Roberto Barroso, met with professors from the National Law School of India University (NLS) in Bangalore this Tuesday (29) to discuss the artificial . Intelligence, digital platforms, democracy, populism and climate change. These topics are part of the minister’s book, which was released in August this year.
Later, Minister Barroso gave a lecture to university students on the mission and roles of the Supreme Courts in contemporary democracies, in the light of the concepts of the theory of constitutional law.
Context
The Chairman of the STF began the institutional commitment last Sunday (27), when he met the President of the Supreme Court of India, Dhananjay Chandrachud, from whom the invitation for the visit had come.
The same day, Minister Barroso met with the Indian Minister of Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal. The use of Artificial Intelligence in the judicial system was the central theme of the meeting.
The official visit strengthens relations between the Supreme Courts of the two countries and deepens dialogue on innovation and judicial administration.
