A mission to Australia from the Government of Minas Gerais brought important results for the Pocos de Caldas. The municipality, known for its mineral potential, will be one of the main beneficiaries of an investment of approximately R$1.1 billion in the “Caldera Project” aimed at the extraction of rare earths. The project, led by Australian mining companies Meteoric Resources and Viridis Mining and Minerals, aims to remove ionic soil from the city’s volcanic plateau.

The delegation included the participation of representatives from Minas Gerais, including the Secretary of State for Economic Development, Fernando Pasalio, the President of Invest Minas, João Paulo Braga, and businessmen from Minas Gerais, with the aim of strengthening relations and attracting international investment. During the visit, the Minas Gerais delegation promoted seminars and meetings with large Australian companies, including Meteoric, Viridis, Pilbara Minerals and Latin Resources. In addition to presenting the mining potential of the state, the discussions reinforced the importance of Minas Gerais as a destination for sustainable and strategic investments, at a time of increasing transition to renewable energy sources. Meteoric representative Marcelo de Carvalho highlighted the pioneering role of the project: “Nobody in the world is trying to integrate the rare earth production chain like us. “This is important for the energy transition and development of the state of Minas Gerais.”
