City prepare for first women’s pre-season in Australia

Manchester City Women will travel to Australia in August to take part in the inaugural Perth International Football Cup in preparation for the 2024/25 season.

For the first time in the club’s history, City will travel to Australia from August 21 to September 2 and will join Paris Saint-Germain and Barclays Super League teammates West Ham United and Leicester City in a pre-season tournament.



The Perth International Football Cup will see two semi-finals played at HBF Park, with City opening the competition against Leicester City on Wednesday 28 August.

This will be followed the next day by West Ham United vs Paris Saint-Germain on Thursday 29 August.

Optus Stadium will then host a thrilling double-header on Sunday 1 September, featuring the third place play-off game followed by the final game between the two semi-final winning teams to crown the tournament champions.

During the club’s visit to Perth, there will be a number of activities including an open training session for fans to interact with the star-studded players. Mary Fowler it is Alanna Kennedy2023-24 WSL Player of the Season and WSL top scorer Khadijah ‘Bunny’ Shaw, among others.

“Securing new events like the Perth International Football Cup puts Western Australia on the map as one of the fastest growing event destinations in the South East Asian region, home to world-class stadiums, beautiful venues and incredible tourism experiences that you can’t find anywhere else.”
