Christians prepare for national week of prayer for the United Kingdom

The “National Week of Prayer”, taking place from October 12 to 20, 2024, is an initiative in the United Kingdom that aims to bring together Christians from different denominations and traditions to pray for the spiritual transformation and renewal of nations. With the support of several organizations such as Open Doors UK and Ireland, 24-7 Prayer, CARE and the Evangelical Alliance, the event seeks to promote collaboration in prayer across all regions of the United Kingdom.

The aim is that, through collective prayer, Christians humble themselves, repent and seek spiritual awakening, in their own lives and in the countries of the United Kingdom – England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

On October 16, a special meeting will take place at the Emmanuel Centre near Westminster Palace, where hundreds of Christians will come together to intercede for the nation. Prominent Christian leaders such as the Orthodox Archbishop of London, Angelos, and the Bishop of Winchester, Philip Mountstephen, encourage participation, affirming the transformative power of collective prayer.

Project coordinator Kamesh Flynn expressed enthusiasm to involve people across the country, highlighting that regardless of the size of gatherings, prayer can bring about significant change in the UK, leading to a return to God and the development of true Christian identity.

This Week of Prayer seeks to inspire Christians to come together, believing that, by praying together, they can bring about deep and lasting change.
