Portugal, who defeated Macedonia 2–0, and Poland, who defeated Sweden by the same score, took the other two UEFA places in the World Cup.
In Africa, Ghana eliminated Nigeria and was the first team from the continent to qualify for the World Cup. In the second match, Senegal beat Egypt 1–0 on Tuesday (29) and reversed their first game defeat, taking the match on penalties, where they repeated the result of the African Cup of Nations final and qualified.
In the South American qualifiers, three teams are fighting for a place in the playoffs this Tuesday night (29). Peru, with 21 points, Colombia (20) and Chile (19) enter the fray in need of a win. In Repechage, the classified selection takes the winner from the United Arab Emirates and Australia.
On Wednesday (30), it will be CONCACAF’s turn to define its representatives in the world. With Canada already classified, the United States, Mexico and Costa Rica are fighting for the last two direct places and one of them will compete in repechage against Oceania’s representative. Check out Games:
Also on Wednesday (30), the Solomon Islands and New Zealand will face each other to define the representative of Oceania who will face the representative of CONCACAF in repechage.
