Davis is considered one of the nation’s leading environmental policy experts, with more than 25 years of experience working on nature and climate change. The British Environment Ministry said in a statement.

When the UK hosted COP26 in Glasgow in 2021 he advised the government and helped secure a global commitment to end deforestation, signed by 145 countries.

The post of Special Representative, in which she will report to the Environment and Foreign Ministries, will be taken up later this month, although Ruth Davis is already in Cali as a nature activist in the United Kingdom delegation.

,I work with government colleagues and partners around the world to tackle this urgent challenge, particularly to ensure that the regulations and incentives governing the global economy work to protect and restore nature. And we invest in the engagement, knowledge and passion of the local population.Davis said, according to the statement.

The announcement of Davis’s appointment comes after it was confirmed that Rachel Coyte would be the special representative for climate, as announced by British Foreign Secretary David Lammy last month.

The 16th meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity, known as COP16, will take place in the Colombian city of Cali between today and November 1 under the motto “At peace with nature.”
