Austrian motorcycle maker KTM has rolled out the KTM 890 Adventure Series, which includes the 890 Adventure R and the limited edition 890 Adventure R Rally.

Only 700 units of KTM 890 Adventure Rally R will be manufactured
KTM got rid of the new 890 Adventure and the limited edition 890 Adventure Rally R. Both motorcycles get their styling hints from the KTM 790 Adventure but that’s where the similarities end. Both the motorcycles have a parallel twin engine of 889 cc which produces 103 bhp at 8,000 rpm and 100 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. The engine is actually a slightly tweaked version of the motor on the KTM 890 deck. KTM says the crankshaft has 20 percent more rotating mass and the overall engineering effect around the engine means a more stable and consistent output, noticeable with less revs and available torque. The added mass means the added corner stability for long distance riding on the throttle. The company also offers an optional quick-shifter on a 6-speed gearbox.

The Adventure R gets a stronger class, with better riding electronics such as ABS, off-road ABS and traction control that offer less interference. There’s also a new switch on the handle bar for cruise control, which is now standard on both models. A separate suspension setup of the motorcycle is also available. Forward, there is a 48 mm WP reverse with a 239 mm trip down and a WP monoscope at the rear with a 239 mm travel.

The motorcycle has a 21-inch front and rear 19-inch unit. The wheels are loaded with Metzler Crow 3 Dual-Support tires. The rear steel sub-frame is new and the steering up front is now made of aluminum. The 890 Adventure R comes with 4 piston calipers and 2-piston clippers with 320 mm discs on the back with a single 260 mm disc. Other features include a 5-inch full-color TFT screen.

With the arrival of the 890 Adventure Rally R, it will be a limited edition model and KTM will build only 700 units, of which 200 units are reserved for the US and the remaining 500 units. The Adventure Rally R model received a WPXPLO Pro suspension setup for better road-to-road capability, an acrobatic exhaust that is 35 percent lighter than the standard exhaust on the 810 Adventure R, a straight racing seat with 9 seats. There is seat height and a rally. ‘Fast-shifter as well as riding mode, both are simple. In addition, the ADV comes with carbon fiber tank protectors, anodized wheels, race-powered chassis and rally footrests. And of course, the graphics of the two motorcycles are also different.

We are not sure whether these motorcycles will come to India or not. The KTM 890 Adventure R is expected to arrive in India in a year or so, but not the limited edition Rally R. Both motorcycles are of course Euro V / BS6 compliant.
